Kevin Michael Jenrette, 37, of Lula, Georgia died on Thursday, June
4, 2009 near Kapisa, Afghanistan of wounds suffered from an improvised
explosive device and small arms fire.
Born on September 2, 1971, Kevin was a
1990 graduate of Lyman Ward Military Academy and a 1995 graduate of
North Georgia College and State University. Upon graduation, Kevin was
commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army where he became an
Army Ranger and served with the 25th Infantry Division in Hawaii. He was
promoted to Captain on July 1, 1999. Then he was an instructor with the
5th Ranger Training Battalion, Camp Merrill in Dahlonega, GA. In 2005
Kevin transferred to the Georgia Army National Guard where he served as
a full- time officer with the Recruiting Sustainment Program; he was
promoted to Major in August of 2005. At the time of his death he was
serving with the 1-108 RSTA Battalion of the 48th BCT, GA ARNG. He
served his country with courage, honor and humility.
Kevin is survived by his wife, Shannon
Parker Jenrette and three children Corey, Brody and Megan, all of Lula,
GA. Kevin and Shannon would have celebrated their 10 year wedding
anniversary on July 3, 2009. Kevin had a love for the military, but his
love for his family far exceeded any other love. He was a devoted and
loving husband and father. He loved hunting, taking his two boys fishing
and anything to do with the outdoors. Kevin was a devout Christian and
an active member of Timber Ridge Baptist Church.

Kevin is survived by his parents Colonel (Ret.) Albert W. and Ursula
Jenrette of Auburn Alabama; Shannon’s parents, Kenneth & Linda Parker of
Lula; his grandmother, Elly S. Klauer of Auburn; a sister Jennifer Welsh
& her husband George of Baton Rouge, LA; nephews Ryan & Nathan Welsh, a
niece Elly Welsh, Shannon’s sisters and their husbands, Michele & Bryan
Thomas of Lula; their children, Andrew Deaton, Nicholas Deaton and
Tristan Thomas, Regina & Steven Marchbanks of Lula; their children, Clay
& Macy Marchbanks, and Shannon’s grandfather, Herbert Buffington of
Lula.
