Glad to know that your still doing the Scuba thing, and congrats to your daughter in getting certified herself. No, I stopped doing Scuba instruction about the same time that we moved to Up State NY back in late 98. I stayed with PADI for a few years thereafter, but I was a full time College student, and really didn't have the time to keep it up. It sure was fun when doing it though. I enjoyed teaching and I got a whole lot of diving in because of it. Night dives, Wreck dives, Nitrox dives, Night navigation, and a whole bunch more, doing all of the different certifications that PADI does. All in all, it paid for the hobby, but your never going to really feed yourself in that occupation, unless your sleeping on a beach and eating coconuts, which isn't a bad thing either, if it's the right beach. What are you doing now, and how often do you get to dive? |

Along those lines, and keeping with the Community News....LTG Benjamin Mixon, Graduate of North Georgia College, is now the Commander of United States Army Pacific Command (USARPAC). How about that, for a small school in the mountains of North Georgia? He was the original Commander of C Co., 3rd Ranger Battalion at Harmony Church, Ft Benning, later went on to Regimental HQ. He later Commanded 3/325th ABCT at Vicenza, Italy. He recently Commanded 25th Inf Division in Northern Iraq, and is now the USARPAC Commander and a 3 Star General. I've known him for many years, and served with him several times while on active duty. He is a "soldiers Officer"..probably due to the influence of his father. Some of you may have known his Dad, CSM Mixon, of the 101st, now deceased. Again, not too bad for an NGC Grad? He always mentioned his time of training at NGC and the "Order of Columbo", ROTC Training at the Mountain Ranger Camp etc,.. etc,... By the way Ross, are we able to order your new book yet? |
