Although I was on the Long Range Patrolling Committee, I have a soft spot for the Mountaineering Committee who allowed me to be the "fall guy" on the three man party climb. So an extra loud Merry Christmas to the Mountaineers. |

Posted: 12/31/1969 Name: ~C Message: Cathy - if nothing phased Big Mac, then certainly nothing phased his ol' lady, Betty Jo! Even funnier than his pants falling down was the time his "leg" was falling off. Betty Jo hated him wearing the peg (his peg came in handy in a fight or two at the club - LOL) and made him start wearing the leg. It was coming off one day in the Comsy, and in front of God and everybody, Betty Jo just reached down the front of his britches and starting fooling around down there until she got the leg strapped back on. I don't think she had any idea how funny that looked to me and the Comsy customers at the time. I was laughing so hard, tears were rolling down my face! And I remember that you and Betty Jo used to go to the messhall most days to eat lunch. I'll never forget the time that Betty Jo took her medicine before y'all went to eat. You came back with the funniest look on your face as you told me that Betty Jo had gone facedown in her plate of food - LOL! She had mistakenly taken a sleeping pill instead of her water pill (and of course, blamed it on me for not paying attention to what she was taking!). Those two were a hoot - and I miss them both. Last time I was in Dahlonega, I stopped by the graveyard to visit Big Mac, Betty Jo, Blunt, and Lori Ramsey. Do you know that Betty Jo's family has never bothered to put a name plate on her grave?? I need to get that done, I suppose, before I am gone too.... Thanks for bringing back some of the good ol'daze memories! Love ya! ~C |
